Our History

The original inception of a club for boys and girls was initiated by the local Kiwanis Club.  John Resteiner, a Kiwanis member, spearheaded the drive to organize a steering committee to raise funds and organize efforts to see this dream become a reality.  After investigating the Boys and Girls Club of America, they realized they were not yet ready to provide a full-fledged program that would meet the national organizations requirements of hours of operation or monetary commitments which their by-laws require.  They did, however, feel they were ready to tackle the very beginnings of a program that would provide for the children of our area.  They petitioned the WB-RC School Board to allow use of the Surline Elementary School as the facility, and they agreed to do so.  OKC became a reality on the first day of school of the 2011-12 school year.
